David Young

Executive Director, Writers Guild of America, West

David Young is Executive Director of the Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW). He was appointed to the position in 2006, after serving as the Guild’s Interim Executive Director in 2005. Prior to that, he was the Guild’s Director of Organizing. Under direction of the WGAW’s Board of Directors, he has led the effort to advance the Guild into the digital age, serving as Chief Negotiator for the WGA during each contract negotiation with the entertainment industry since 2007. A magna cum laude graduate of the University of San Diego, Young has devoted his professional career to working with labor organizations and is a highly experienced negotiator, union organizer, and organizational leader.
