    Administrative Assistant to the General President, United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada

    Derrick Kualapai is the Administrative Assistant to the General President for the United Association of Journeyman and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe fitting Industry of the United States and Canada. He is a twenty-eight-year member of United Association (UA), representing 360,000 plumbers, pipefitters, sprinkler fitters & HVAC/R techs.

    Derrick Kualapai began his career in 1994 and held many leadership roles throughout his tenure at Plumbers and Steamfitters U.A. Local #342, chartered in Oakland, CA. In addition to being the business manager, he was a trustee for seven years chairing the Pension, Health and Welfare, Apprenticeship and Joint Labor management trust funds.

    Derrick Kualapai served as a commissioner to the California Apprenticeship Counsel appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom in 2018.

    Derrick Kualapai was one of three labor leaders appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom to the Recovery Task Force on Jobs and Business. The task force was composed of labor, business, and healthcare to collaborate on ways to safely reopen California’s economy and job market following the Covid 19 pandemic.
