We have wrapped our 2019 Annual Conference. We hope that you found the sessions to be timely, educational, and relevant as you work to provide pension and healthcare benefits to the millions of workers who rely upon the multiemployer system, and look forward to welcoming you next year in Chicago!
Our 2019 Lawyers and Administrators meeting was held on April 11, 2019 at the Almas Shrine Temple in Washington, DC.
We held our 2019 Transatlantic Conference June 19-21, 2019 at the beautiful Sagamore Resort in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State.
This event will brought together leading experts in pension and health benefits, as well as Trustees and plan professionals from around the world to share their knowledge and expertise. The conference included two days devoted to global topics of interest in the areas of pension and healthcare including:
– the increased global focus on ESG factors and “Green” investing in selecting and evaluating investments
– pension solvency metrics, plan management tools, and pension backstops throughout the world
– innovations in risk sharing plan designs
– mental health in the workplace, including the opioid epidemic
– approaches to medical marijuana with a particular focus on the changing legal landscapes in the United States and Canada, and
– a case study from Finland on the effectiveness of their holistic approach to disability
The final morning of the conference was devoted to the state of labor/management relations and bargaining throughout the world including the challenges in dealing with new forms of employment and the mobility of workers.
Our 2018 Lawyers and Administrators Meeting took place on April 12, 2018 at the Almas Shrine Temple in Washington, DC. Our speakers contributed their substantial experience and knowledge of Joint Select Committee on Solvency of Multiemployer Pension Plan, the MPRA application and review process, federal credit and the implications for any multiemployer rescue loan program, and what we might expect in the way of government regulations over the next year.

We are pleased to announce that the 2017 Annual Conference will continue as planned, beginning September 23rd through September 27th at The Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, FL.
We are thankful that Hurricane Irma did not affect the east coast of Florida as much as feared, and appreciate the dedication of the hotel and its staff to get their operations back to normal. The power and transportation infrastructure are making tremendous progress with Miami International Airport, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, and Palm Beach International Airport resuming operations today.
We have important and timely topics to discuss, and an excellent cast of speakers who have been preparing to make this a terrific event.
We look forward to seeing you at the conference.

Every spring, senior plan professionals, lawyers, administrators, actuaries and interested trustees gather in Washington, DC, to engage government agencies with jurisdiction over multiemployer plans and discuss current and upcoming issues that will affect those plans. This one-day, highly technical event affords lawyers, plan administrators and other plan professionals the opportunity to create an open dialogue with government officials.
